The Crate Escape was founded in Richmond, Vermont, in July of 1995. Owners Ned Robinson and Shannon Mead purchased The Crate Escape in the Spring of 2023. Together with their three dogs, Mickey, Biscuit, and Jasper, Ned and Shannon live in Westford.

Ned is a French-trained chef and restaurant manager who spent 22 years in kitchens and dining rooms. You may recognize him from his time at Stone’s Throw Pizza in Richmond, where he was a part of the opening team. Shannon spent 15 years working for hospitals, the State of Vermont, non-profit organizations, and also had her own career in restaurants and coffee shops. She has a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Colorado State University, and Ned graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Academy of Culinary Arts in Paris, France with a Grande Diplome in French Cuisine and Pastry.

Ned and Shannon are excited to continue providing the highest quality of care for your pets, but we can’t do it without the hard work and dedication of The Crate Escape team. Staff members undergo rigorous training to handle dogs gently with positive techniques while teaching good behavior. Not only do dogs get exercise and socialization, they also receive individual attention and care. Our facilities are cleaned daily to ensure the healthiest environment for your furry friends.
